His father, Paolo Forchielli (Urbino, 1920- Bologna, 1996), graduated with a degree in law (Scuola Normale di Pisa), was assigned to the 33rd battalion of the “Bergamo” group (2nd Regiment of the Alpine brigade “Tridentina”, the alpine artillery of the Tridentina division) as a second lieutenant and participated in the Russian Campaign, suffering battle wounds. He taught Civil Law as a member of the University of Bologna’s Law faculty, Private Law at the University of Ferrara, and Civil Rights at his alma mater, the University of Pisa. He authored numerous scientific publications.
His mother, Maria Grazia (Bologna 1926- Imola 2011) was the only daughter of Giacomo Dal Monte Casoni (1890-1968), a lawyer from Imola and striking example of the newly formed Italian People’s Party, and then the Christian Democracy. He participated as a parliament member at the Italian Republic’s first legislature, and was president of the Imola Savings Bank from 1945 to 1968. Tommaso Casoni (1880-1933) also belongs to the Dal Monte Casoni family, a medical doctor and scientist who studied echinococcus.
After attending the Malpighi high school in Bologna, Alberto Forchielli 〔Catalogue of living people 2015 - by Giorgio dell'Arti〕 with a bachelor’s degree cum lode in economics in 1978 from the University of Bologna. He graduated with an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1981. He was one of the first Italians to graduate in the 5th percentile.
He contributed in 1996 to the return of the remains of the corpse of soldier Harry Castilloux, a serial number, 35895836, and a date of birth September 24,1920, to his family in US. A grenade took him away on October 5, 1944, on the mountains over Bologna (Monte Battaglia), while he slept in his fox-hole, his hole in the dirt, exhausted from hours of machine gun. But Harry is back home the same, sixty years later, as an unfortunate Ulysses, thanks to Alberto Forchielli and Renzo Grandi. 〔Sixty years’ after someone has saved the soldier Harry〕 〔http://www.abmc.gov/search-abmc-burials-and-memorializations/detail/WWII_19670#.VXFaVmC9_DN〕
